Mrs. Mathes - Special Education Teacher

I am a dedicated special education teacher with more than 20 years of experience supporting students with a wide range of learning, communication, behavioral, and adaptive needs. I believe every student deserves to feel successful, valued, and included at school, and I work hard to create a classroom that is structured, positive, and welcoming. My teaching focuses on building academic skills while also helping students grow in communication, independence, social skills, and confidence. I use individualized instruction, visual supports, AAC, hands-on learning, and consistent routines to help each student access learning in a way that works best for them. I also value strong partnerships with families, paraeducators, specialists, and general education teachers because collaboration is essential to student success. One of my greatest joys is celebrating the small steps that lead to big accomplishments for my students. I am proud to be part of the Jefferson Lincoln community and to help our students grow, learn, and discover just how much they are capable of achieving.
